LEAP Week - Day 1: YWG -> LAX

Day 1

I came up to Winnipeg with my family yesterday morning and we went to the Assiniboine Park Zoo, before checking into the hotel for the night. My flight to Los Angeles was at four in the morning so I didn't get much sleep, but my family dropped me off at the airport and I met up with a few friends from school.

We checked in and went through security together, before waiting for our flight. We flew from Winnipeg, MB to Vancouver, BC, then to Los Angeles, CA.

Once we arrived, everyone was really shocked my the weather. Despite being so much further south, the weather in LA was almost identical to the weather in Winnipeg the day prior.

We got settled into our rooms and started to meet our roommates. Unfortunately, my roommate hasn't arrived yet; there was an issue in transportation for a group of students from Brownsville, TX, so they won't be here for a while still.

After that we had a welcome session with Dr. Bill Dorfman, co-founder of the LEAP Foundation, before meeting with our small groups for the first time.
