California Road Trip - Day 1: Kenora, ON -> Fargo, ND

Day 1: Road trip time! I left my tiny town of Kenora around 1900hrs and set off for Winnipeg. I decided to take a route through the United States instead of Canada because it would be cheaper on gas, so once I dropped my Auntie's mom off in the city, I headed straight for the border.

It started snowing really bad... and I mean REALLY BAD. I couldn't even see my own hand if I stuck it out my window because of the snow. But I have a wedding to make it to so i kept going. Once I got through border security, I stopped for gas. When I got out of my car to pump the gas however, the wind was so strong it almost blew me over! So I stood huddled up against my car pumping gas, at midnight, in 80 km/h (50 mph) winds, in Pembina, North Dakota. Once I got on the road again and started heading south the weather started clearing up and while it didn't stop snowing yet, I could definitely see enough to keep driving.

I decided to park for the night at flying jay and staying in my car. I had the heat cranked all the way up so it wouldn't be too cold to sleep, but about half an hour into laying down, my car shook and my front windshield cracked. I figured someone might have tried to break in so I immediately got into the drivers seat and drove somewhere else for the night. I stayed for a few hours at a rest stop sleeping on and off. Overall it was a pretty rocky start to the trip but Im sure things will be looking up from here.
